Ken Griffey Jr had 2 base hits and 4 RBI as the Chicago Colts defeated the
Columbus Crowd by a score of 8 to 7 at the ballpark.
Chris Capuano(3-3) delivered a fine performance for Chicago. He went 6
innings allowing 5 hits and 3 walks. Capuano mowed down 7 Columbus batters
and allowed 2 gopher balls. Columbus made it exciting in the 9th, but they
were unable to push the needed runs across.
Capuano got help from Huston Street who earned his 7th save. Jose
Contreras(2-4) was hit with the loss. Frank Lopeman was in a contemplative
mood after the tough loss, 'It is really hard to lose this kind of a game.
It may seem weird to some, but it is easier to take the occasional blow-out
loss. It is the ones that just barely get away that hurt so much - like this
one!'
